She’d been watching him all night
And though the two had never met
He was watching her too, alright
She knew he was hers to get
Knowing neither were very sober
She grabbed a beer on her way
And as she walked on over
She was getting the courage to say
If I were in your shoes
I would’ve walked on over to me
Because I think I might just be your type
And I might be willing to see
If I were in your shoes
I’d probably now lead me off to dance
And maybe see where this is going
And give this thing a chance
The bar was calling last round
He said “Looks like I might be your ride…
Your buddies are nowhere to be found,
Guess you’re leaving with me tonight.”
She smiled and got into his car
And drove out to his place
While looking out at all the stars
On his porch he turned to her to say
“If I were in your shoes
I would come on over to me
Cause I, too, think I’m your type
And I’d be willing to see
(and) If I were in your shoes
I’d have another dance
With me right here, right now
And give this thing a chance.”
After a year or more of dating
He knew there’d come a day
He’d finally get tired of waiting
When he’d be dying to say
“I love you now and always will
And if you say yes, I’ll do my part
To forever keep my deal
And love you with all my heart.”
After they said “I do”
And cut the wedding cake
She walked over to the band
And grabbed the mic to say
“If I were in your shoes
I’d walk over here to me
Cause now I am your wife
And I want the world to see
I’m out of these shoes
And I’m ready to dance
With you, right here, right now
And give this thing a chance.”
